About the Role

As our next IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future foundations of our business. From managing hybrid cloud environments and automating workflows to improving security and scaling our infrastructure, your work will help us move forward, one job at a time.

Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:

  • Building and maintaining secure, reliable infrastructure that keeps our teams and systems running smoothly.
  • Improving how we manage and automate our infrastructure by spotting opportunities and putting better solutions in place.
  • Working closely with security, platform and software engineering teams to deliver tools and systems the business can rely on.
  • Making sure our systems are stable, secure and easy for teams across Checkatrade to use.

It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:

  • Experience managing IT infrastructure across Microsoft environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong experience with identity and access management, working with tools like Okta to support SSO, MFA and user lifecycle management.
  • Confidence working across cloud platforms such as Azure, with some exposure to AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Experience managing modern workplace tools, including Google Workspace and endpoint management across macOS, Windows, and ChromeOS.
  • A solid understanding of networking and security fundamentals like DNS, VPNs and firewalls
  • Experience automating tasks or workflows using scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) or tools like Okta Workflows or Zapier.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly to different audiences.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
