IT Systems Engineer – Full-time, Permanent
Location: East Kilbride – soon moving to Central Glasgow (4 days per week onsite)
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum plus benefits
The Opportunity:
If you work in infrastructure, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced one of two extremes.
You’re either responsible for almost everything with the words “IT” attached to it but rarely get enough time to properly improve anything.
Or you’ve ended up so siloed that you only ever see one small part of the infrastructure you’re supporting.
This role sits somewhere much more interesting in the middle.
You’ll join an established technology company where you’ll have the opportunity to work across the infrastructure rather than being confined to one small area of it.
Windows Server, Hyper-V, networking, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, backups, security and physical data centre infrastructure all form part of the environment. You’ll maintain what’s already there, but importantly, you’ll also be involved in improving it and building new infrastructure as the technology evolves.
So, if you’re the type of Systems Engineer who enjoys understanding how everything fits together, solving problems properly, and having enough variety to keep things interesting, there’s plenty here to get involved with.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Salary is £30-35,000 per annum depending on experience
- Annual salary reviews with regular market benchmarking
- Hybrid working – 1 day per week remote from home
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Pension scheme with employer contribution and matched enhancements
- Health Cash Plan including 24/7 GP access, dental and optical cover
- Death in Service cover (4x salary)
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Paid volunteering days
- Discretionary bonus
- Comfortable, modern open-plan office
- Team and company social events
- Autonomy, trust and long-term career progression
- Structured training and development opportunities to help you grow
- Supportive, team-focused culture that values your ideas and achievements

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Why this IT Systems Engineer role may appeal
This isn’t simply a support role – you’ll be involved in the core infrastructure, and this role offers the opportunity to improve how things are done.
You’ll work across a varied infrastructure environment spanning Windows Server, Hyper-V, networking, Active Directory, Entra ID and Intune.
You’ll build as well as maintain, helping to create new infrastructure environments and introduce new technologies.
There’s plenty of hands-on infrastructure work, including physical servers, networking equipment and three core data centres.
You’ll get involved in infrastructure projects, security, backup, and disaster recovery, alongside the day-to-day running of the environment.
If you enjoy being an IT all-rounder, the breadth of the role will give you plenty of variety while continuing to develop your technical skills.
What you need to apply for the IT Systems Engineer:
- Strong, hands-on Windows Server administration experience
- Practical experience with Hyper-V virtualisation
- Solid knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
- Strong networking knowledge, with experience configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure
- Experience working with physical servers and data centre environments, rather than solely cloud-based infrastructure
- A broad infrastructure background with strong troubleshooting skills, plus the ability to drive and travel to data centres when required
- Technical exposure to Intune, storage, backups, Linux, Cisco/Fortigate, Docker, Jira, SQL/XML/JSON would be advantageous

Why You Should Apply:
If you’ve built up broad infrastructure experience as an IT Systems Engineer and enjoy being an all-rounder, this is a role where that breadth will be useful.
You’ll still have the day-to-day responsibility that comes with looking after business-critical systems, but you’ll also have the opportunity to improve environments, introduce new technology, work on infrastructure projects and get properly hands-on with the systems you’re responsible for.
