Location
Infleqtion has offices in the USA, United Kingdom and Australia. This is a full-time position based at our Kidlington, Oxford office. Work from home permitted up to 2 days per week based on business needs and manager approval.
Purpose
The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, administration and technical support of Infleqtion UK’s corporate IT environment.
The role provides technical escalation, supports the secure and reliable delivery of corporate IT services, and plays a key part in transitioning operational services from outsourced to internally managed delivery.
The role requires broad hands-on experience across cloud, on-premises systems, endpoints, identity, networking and core infrastructure services, with growing responsibility across infrastructure, security operations and service resilience as the UK IT function develops.
Responsibilities
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune and associated corporate IT services
- Manage identity, access and privileged-access administration
- Manage endpoint configuration, patching, application deployment and security controls across supported Windows, macOS and Linux environments
- Operate and maintain backup, monitoring and recovery platforms
- Support the resilience, availability and performance of corporate IT systems
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex incidents and service requests
- Support corporate networking, wireless, firewall and connectivity services in collaboration with Platform Engineering where responsibilities overlap
- Support the operation and ongoing development of UK infrastructure services in collaboration with Platform Engineering
- Support virtualised and on-premises infrastructure where it forms part of the corporate IT environment
- Support vulnerability remediation, endpoint security and technical cyber security controls
- Take an active role in security monitoring, vulnerability management and incident response
- Support the development of internal security operations capability as the UK IT function matures
- Contribute to the design and implementation of secure and resilient infrastructure services
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration records and operational procedures
- Deliver technical elements of onboarding, offboarding and user lifecycle management
- Support IT projects, infrastructure changes and technology deployments
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve IT services in line with IT strategy and priorities
- Support the transition and ongoing operation of services and tooling currently delivered by managed service providers

Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a similar technical role
- Strong experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory environments
- Experience with Intune or comparable endpoint-management platforms
- Good knowledge of Windows, macOS and Linux corporate environments
- Strong understanding of identity, access control, RBAC and least-privilege principles
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including LAN, WAN, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, wireless and firewalls
- Experience with virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware
- Experience with backup, recovery, monitoring and business-continuity technologies
- Experience with endpoint security, vulnerability remediation and patch-management tooling
- Good understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure
- Experience with security monitoring, vulnerability management or incident response
- Familiarity with SIEM, EDR/XDR or SOC tooling
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills
Qualifications
- Relevant degree, technical qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant Microsoft, networking, cloud or cyber security certifications are advantageous but not essential.
Travel
Up to 10% travel, including international travel, may be required

Work will normally be performed in an office and laboratory environment. Able to efficiently use automated office equipment such as laptops, copiers, and printers; able to effectively engage in communications (via phone, computer, or in-person). Will involve sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying up to 10 kg.
