IT Systems & Network Engineer - Carlisle

A successful and growing international manufacturing business is looking to appoint an IT Systems & Network Engineer to support its UK operations from its Carlisle site. This is a hands-on infrastructure role offering broad exposure across desktop support, networking, telecommunications, local servers, and IT project delivery, whilst working closely with a wider global technology team. The business operates in a highly automated engineering and manufacturing environment and is continuing to invest in its technology estate.

As the IT Systems & Network Engineer, you will support the day-to-day operation of the site's technology environment while contributing to ongoing infrastructure improvements and technology refresh projects. The position combines user support, network troubleshooting, server support, telecommunications, and infrastructure maintenance. You'll work closely with local users and international IT colleagues to ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting desktop, laptop, and mobile device environments
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure, network, telephony, and hardware issues
  • Supporting LAN connectivity and local technology infrastructure
  • Managing technology deployments, upgrades, and refresh projects
  • Supporting VoIP telephony and communication systems
  • Installing operating systems, software updates, and security patches
  • Supporting local file, print, and domain services
  • Maintaining documentation and adhering to global IT standards
  • Participating in project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Providing occasional out-of-hours and on-call support when required.

We're looking for an IT professional who enjoys working across infrastructure, networking, and end-user technology.

Skills and Experience

You will likely have experience in a combination of some of the following skills:

  • Infrastructure, systems administration, or network support
  • Desktop, laptop, and mobile device support
  • Network troubleshooting and LAN environments
  • Microsoft technologies and Windows environments
  • VoIP or telephony support
  • Hardware, software, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Supporting both day-to-day operations and project-based work
