Job Description:
IT Tester
Bristol, UK (Onsite)
9 Month Fixed Term Contract
What This Role Is All About
Would you like to work with cutting edge premium care support products and progress your career within a friendly and informal environment? We’re looking for fast-learning talent who will help us grow their role and take advantage of the many growth opportunities that exist, helping us shape their own and the company’s future.
The IT tester’s responsibilities include being the quality guardian, ensuring that the delivery of IT services match the functional, performance, and security requirements that our world-class clients demand. This includes the creation of test plans, reviewing of developer unit test plans, and creation of automated scripts to aid volume testing and regression test.
As the role grows, we also want the IT tester to contribute to the company’s IT strategy, driving through policy and processes to help build the IT testing team.
Your Key Areas of Focus
-
Creation of test plans to ensure delivered IT services are of sufficient quality, incorporating the following aspects:
- Functional requirements (does it meet the required business function)
- Performance requirements (is it fast enough and caters for the required volumes of transactions and concurrent users)
- UI standards (does it break any of the HCI rules)
- Security requirements (is data stored and transmitted securely? It is bullet-proof against attacks such as SQL injection? Will it pass pen-test?)
- Operational requirements (what monitoring is in place to ensure it is running successfully?)
- Reporting requirements (what information should it pass through into the central reporting database?)
-
Gatekeeper of developer submissions: Review of developer unit test plans and rejection of submitted changes if test plans are missing, inadequate, or contain insufficient proof of tests passing. Review of user documentation accompanying the changes – is it fit for purpose for the intended audience?
-
Creation and maintenance of automated test scripts to run regression tests and assist in volume testing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
