IT Trainer / Software Trainer

Bring end-user training experience and strong Microsoft 365 knowledge to a varied client-facing role delivering in-person and virtual learning, creating practical resources, and supporting users with Copilot, cyber security awareness and new software.

SALARY: from £35,000 per annum + Benefits
LOCATION: Carlisle, Cumbria, North West England with some Hybrid working available
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an opportunity to combine client training, technical knowledge and content creation while helping users get more from Microsoft applications and new software.

Working with clients and colleagues, the IT Trainer / Software Trainer will deliver in-person and virtual learning, including induction and post-project software training.

The IT Trainer / Software Trainer will create training documents and short-form videos while supporting confident use of Microsoft 365, Copilot and cyber security awareness.

Alongside training delivery the IT Trainer / Software Trainer will manage assigned work through the PSA system, maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continual improvement.

DUTIES

Your duties as the IT Trainer / Software Trainer include:

  • Client and End-User Training: Deliver Microsoft, software and induction training in person or virtually, including learning following commissioned project implementation
  • Training Content and Documentation: Prepare clear internal training documents covering new products, tools and topics
  • Video Training Content: Produce short training videos for social media to support knowledge sharing and experience
  • Technical Delivery: Complete technical work internally and for clients using company tooling, remotely or on site, in line with the agreed scope
  • PSA Work Management: Record work, notes, time and charge codes accurately, and manage assigned tickets, activities and projects
  • Technical and Process Documentation: Maintain accurate internal and client technical and process documentation
  • Communication and Procedures: Handle internal and external communications professionally and follow standard operating procedures
  • Process Improvement: Identify and recommend process and procedure improvements
  • Learning and Professional Development: Maintain technical knowledge and participate in relevant learning and development
  • Professional Representation: Build positive relationships, support equality, diversity and inclusion, and represent the organisation

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience delivering IT or software end-user training in person and remotely to varied audiences and abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, sufficient to train and support end users
  • Confidence delivering Microsoft Copilot training to end users
  • Confidence delivering cyber security awareness training to end users
  • Ability to prepare and adapt clear, engaging training materials, guides and documentation for different audiences
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation skills to plan and deliver training across multiple clients
  • Ability to work accurately within established processes with attention to detail
  • Motivation to develop knowledge of new technologies and Microsoft product updates
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Confident, personable and professional manner when engaging with clients of varying technical ability
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with ambition, professionalism, knowledge, integrity and respect
  • Ability to travel between offices and undertake client visits if required

DESIRABLE

  • Microsoft certified qualification relevant to Microsoft 365, such as MS-900 or MO-100/MO-201, or a recognised training or facilitation qualification such as AET/PTLLS
  • Confidence using screen recording or video editing tools to produce short training content
  • Experience delivering training within an MSP or IT consultancy environment
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Entra ID, Intune and Purview sufficient to support related end-user training
  • Experience using a Professional Services Automation (PSA) system to log time, tickets and documentation
  • Ability to work under own initiative with integrity and seek instruction or guidance when appropriate
  • Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate client training schedules
