Job Family Group: Communications & External Affairs Group
Job Description:
Our purpose is to bring together people, energy and markets to power and navigate a changing world. In a time of constant change and possibility we need new talent to pursue commercial opportunities, fuelled by world-class insight and expertise. We’re always striving for more innovative digital solutions, sustainable outcomes and closer collaboration across our company and beyond, and you could be part of that too.
About the role:
We're looking for an ITK (Internal Knowledge) Writer to join the team behind In the Know (ITK), bp's daily internal newsletter reaching approximately 50,000 employees worldwide. This is a fast-paced role for a skilled writer who can turn complex business updates, industry developments and external news into clear, engaging and relevant content. Sitting at the heart of bp's internal communications, you'll help keep employees informed through timely storytelling, sharp editorial judgement and compelling writing.
Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027
What you'll be doing:
- Write and contribute multiple articles each day for In the Know, covering both internal developments and external energy, business and geopolitical news.
- Create content in ITK's "smart brevity" style, balancing speed, clarity and accuracy.
- Identify and prioritise stories for upcoming editions, from reactive next-day news to longer-lead features.
- Attend leadership webcasts, town halls and internal events, turning key messages into compelling articles.
- Monitor internal and external news throughout the day to identify stories that matter most to our employees.
- Research trends across key business areas, including exploration & production, convenience & mobility and the wider energy system.
- Partner with stakeholders across bp to source information, validate content and support timely approvals.
- Manage multiple deadlines simultaneously while contributing to both immediate delivery and future content planning.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
