Your role

As an IT/OT Solution Architect, you will lead the design of secure, scalable and supportable solutions that bridge operational technology, enterprise IT and cloud platforms. Working across industrial environments, you will translate business, operational and engineering requirements into end-to-end architectures spanning PLCs, RTUs, SCADA, historians, OT networks, industrial edge platforms, enterprise integration and cloud services. You will play a key role in enabling reliable industrial data flows, establishing integration standards and guiding delivery teams to implement modern IT/OT convergence solutions that balance innovation with operational resilience, cybersecurity and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end IT/OT solution architectures that connect operational systems, industrial edge technologies, enterprise platforms and cloud services.
  • Design integration and interoperability strategies using technologies and patterns such as OPC UA, MQTT, APIs, event-driven architectures and Unified Namespace.
  • Provide technical leadership and design assurance to engineering teams, suppliers and stakeholders, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with architectural standards.
  • Develop reusable architecture patterns, standards and industrial data models while coordinating decisions across OT, networking, cybersecurity, cloud and data domains to support consistent and resilient deployment at scale.

Your profile

You are an experienced IT/OT Solution Architect with a strong understanding of industrial automation, enterprise integration and cloud technologies. You can translate complex operational and business requirements into scalable, secure and resilient architectures that connect industrial systems with enterprise and cloud platforms. Combining technical depth with strong stakeholder engagement skills, you are comfortable leading architecture workshops, challenging design decisions and providing technical direction across multidisciplinary teams. You bring the ability to balance innovation with the operational realities of industrial environments while driving consistent, supportable and future-ready IT/OT solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
