Job Title: Janitor / Handyman Facilities & Maintenance Operative
Location: East London, UK
Employment Type: Temporary
Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 08:30-16:30)
Salary: £14 - £16 p/h
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Janitor to join a facilities team in East London. This role is suited to someone with strong experience in janitor, cleaning, facilities, maintenance, and carpentry work. The successful janitor will help maintain a clean, safe and well-functioning environment through hands-on facilities maintenance and cleaning duties.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day janitorial, cleaning, and facilities maintenance duties.
- Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the building.
- Undertake minor carpentry, decorating, plumbing and general maintenance repairs.
- Perform health & safety, fire safety and facilities checks.
- Maintain communal areas to a high cleaning and janitor standard.
- Use hand and power tools safely for maintenance and facilities tasks.
- Log all maintenance and cleaning activity digitally.
- Support porterage, furniture movement and general facilities duties.
- Work with contractors to ensure high maintenance and facilities standards.

Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a janitor, facilities operative, or maintenance operative.
- Strong background in cleaning, maintenance, and facilities work.
- Hands-on experience with carpentry and general building maintenance.
- Good understanding of health & safety in facilities and maintenance environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage janitor workloads.
- Basic IT skills for logging maintenance and cleaning tasks.
- Enhanced DBS – essential
- Full UK driving licence – preferred
