Job title: Janitor

Job ref: XS1.5a

Grade: 3, SCP 3-4

Hours: 20 hours per week (additional hours maybe available)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Permanent (Salaried, 52 weeks per year)

Bincombe Valley Primary School is looking to appoint a Janitor to join our dedicated and supportive site team on a permanent basis.

Duties

The successful candidate will work closely with our Site Manager, carrying out duties effectively and efficiently in line with the needs of the school. This is a varied and practical role which will include:

  • Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds, particularly outdoor areas.
  • Cleaning duties
  • Being responsible for the security of the school premises in the absence of the Site Manager, acting as a key holder.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Be enthusiastic, friendly and passionate about their role
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Have some DIY / handyman experience
  • Have a good understanding of general health and safety*
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team

In-house training, including Health and Safety, will be provided where necessary.

Bincombe Valley Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments.
