A leading organisation within the Energy & Utilities sector is seeking an experienced Java Application Developer to support the delivery of business-critical applications within a modern cloud-native environment.
£520 p/d Inside IR35
Mainly Remote (1 day a week in London, the rest is WFH)
6 month+ contract
In the role you will design, develop and support scalable backend services using Java, working within a microservices and event-driven architecture.
Key responsibilities
- Develop backend services using Java.
- Build and support event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
- Deliver scalable microservices-based applications.
- Participate in design, development, testing and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
- Support cloud-native deployments and production environments.
- Contribute to Agile delivery and continuous improvement.

Essential skills and experience
- Strong commercial Java development experience.
- Hands-on Apache Kafka experience.
- Experience with microservices architectures.
- Understanding of cloud-native development.
- Experience working in Agile teams.
- Ability to support and optimise production applications.
Desirable skills and experience

- OpenShift experience.
- Containerisation and cloud deployment technologies.
- CI/CD and DevOps knowledge.
- Experience within large-scale transformation programmes.
