A leading organisation within the Energy & Utilities sector is seeking an experienced Java Application Developer to support the delivery of business-critical applications within a modern cloud-native environment.

£520 p/d Inside IR35
Mainly Remote (1 day a week in London, the rest is WFH)
6 month+ contract

In the role you will design, develop and support scalable backend services using Java, working within a microservices and event-driven architecture.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop backend services using Java.
  • Build and support event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
  • Deliver scalable microservices-based applications.
  • Participate in design, development, testing and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support cloud-native deployments and production environments.
  • Contribute to Agile delivery and continuous improvement.

Essential skills and experience

  • Strong commercial Java development experience.
  • Hands-on Apache Kafka experience.
  • Experience with microservices architectures.
  • Understanding of cloud-native development.
  • Experience working in Agile teams.
  • Ability to support and optimise production applications.
