Back-End Developer (Java)
London / Ipswich - Hybrid (2-3 Days a Week In Office)
Permanent
£85k - £100k + Bonus
We're working with an innovative financial technology business building blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) solutions for financial services.
They're looking for a Back End Developer with strong Java experience to join the team and help build secure, scalable backend systems supporting their DLT platforms.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:
- Developing backend services and APIs using Java
- Building and integrating REST APIs and microservices
- Working with architects on blockchain/DLT integrations
- Designing databases, migrations, and optimising queries
- Building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems
- Working with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- Troubleshooting complex backend and integration issues
- Producing clear technical documentation
- Collaborating with engineering, architecture, and product teams

What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial Java backend development experience
- Solid experience with REST APIs and microservices
- Database development and query optimisation experience
- Understanding of backend security
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable Experience:
- Blockchain / DLT - particularly Hyperledger, Corda, or Ethereum
- Web3j or other blockchain integration libraries
- Financial services / capital markets
- Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Camunda or Activiti
- Event-driven architectures and DevOps practices
