🚨 We’re Hiring: Java Backend Engineer | Contract | Bournemouth, UK
📍 Location: Bournemouth, UK
🏢 Work Mode: Onsite
💼 Job Type: Contract
We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer to join our team on a contract basis in Bournemouth, UK. This is an onsite opportunity for candidates with strong Java backend development experience and exposure to Apache Flink, AWS, Kubernetes, and large-scale file processing.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java backend services.
- Build large-scale file processing solutions across VSIs and Amazon S3.
- Develop streaming and batch processing pipelines using Apache Flink.
- Deploy and manage cloud-native applications using Kubernetes / AWS EKS.
- Design highly resilient, share-nothing and multi-region architectures.
- Develop secure, scalable, well-documented REST APIs.
- Work with Kafka and/or MQ messaging technologies.
- Implement service registries and dynamic service discovery within microservices environments.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude.
- Work effectively within Agile, self-managing teams.

🔹 Required Skills
- Strong Java & Object-Oriented Programming
- Experience building reusable components and custom frameworks
- Large-file processing and file handling experience
- Apache Flink – highly desirable
- AWS – particularly EKS and S3
- Kubernetes & Cloud-Native Development
- Kafka / MQ
- REST APIs & Microservices
- Highly available and multi-region architectures
- GitHub Copilot / Claude or similar AI-assisted development tools
- Agile development experience
