About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer specializing in SIP/VoIP technologies to join our client's dynamic team on a 6-month contract basis, inside IR35. This hybrid role based in Ipswich offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge voice and communications platforms within the telecommunications industry. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and enhancing large-scale telecom services, leveraging cloud technologies and AI-powered voice solutions to deliver innovative communication experiences.
The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and support voice applications and platforms. You will be responsible for integrating various voice services, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the seamless operation of voice communications across multiple cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. This position offers a challenging yet rewarding environment for professionals passionate about telecommunications, cloud computing, and AI-driven voice technology.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in Java development within telecom or voice environments. A solid understanding of SIP, VoIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP protocols is essential. Familiarity with JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlet frameworks will be highly advantageous. Candidates should have hands-on experience with voice platforms such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk and be comfortable deploying solutions across multiple cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Additionally, strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are critical for success in this role. Knowledge of telecom security protocols, including TLS and SRTP, is desirable. Certifications or experience with Docker, Kubernetes, WebRTC, and advanced telecoms security protocols will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance SIP-based voice applications using Java, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Work with frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlet to design and implement telecommunication solutions.
- Support and integrate voice platforms including FreeSWITCH and Asterisk, ensuring seamless operation and interoperability.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain voice solutions across cloud environments like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Integrate speech recognition, text-to-speech, and AI-driven voice services to enhance communication functionalities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve voice quality issues, call routing problems, and network performance challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop technical specifications, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures for ongoing support and future enhancements.
