The Role
We are looking for a talented Java Developer to join our team and contribute to the design, development and maintenance of high-performance applications. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of Java and is enthusiastic about working with the latest tools and frameworks. You will play a critical role in building scalable, high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Application development: Design, develop and implement Java applications using modern development tools and best practice.
- Code quality: Write clean, scalable code and take part in code reviews to maintain quality.
- API integration: Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for seamless communication between systems and applications.
- Debugging and testing: Identify, troubleshoot and fix defects, and carry out unit and integration tests.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and understand requirements, and take part in design discussions.
- Performance optimisation: Make sure applications are optimised for speed, scalability and performance.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

What We are Looking For
Essential:
- SC cleared or SC eligible.
- Java: Strong hands-on experience with Java SE and Java EE, writing efficient and effective code.
- Frameworks: Experience with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate and Struts.
- Databases: Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle or PostgreSQL, and experience writing SQL queries.
- APIs and web services: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON and XML.
- Version control: Experience with Git or similar.
- Problem-solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Teamwork: Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with microservices architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, Angular or React.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Java certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional.
