ROLE TITLE: Java Developer
LOCATION: London or Leicester (3 days per week with some week 5 days)
CLEARANCE: The ideal candidate will have active SC Clearance or be eligible to undergo SC Clearance.
LENGTH: 12 months
SALARY: £41,000 to £45,000 per annum
We are actively looking to secure a Java Developer to join Experis.

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Java Developer to join our growing technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise-grade Java applications within an Agile delivery environment. This role requires a combination of software development and application support expertise, with experience across Java technologies, CI/CD tooling, and systems administration for J2EE-based applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications.
- Build scalable and robust solutions using the Spring Framework and related technologies.
- Develop and consume Web Services to support business integration requirements.
- Work with JMS and Message-Driven Beans (MDBs) to implement messaging solutions.
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, Architects, Test Engineers, and DevOps teams.
- Manage source code repositories using Git and adhere to version control best practices.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and contribute to automation initiatives.
- Perform systems administration and support activities for J2EE applications and JBoss environments.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure automation scripts using Ansible.
- Create and execute unit tests using JUnit to ensure application quality.
- Track and manage development activities, defects, and user stories using JIRA.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application and environment issues.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills & Experience
- 2-5 years' experience in Java software development.
- Experience supporting and administering J2EE application environments.
- Strong programming skills in Java.
- Experience with the Spring Framework.
- Knowledge of Web Services (SOAP and/or REST).
- Experience with JMS and Message-Driven Beans (MDBs).
- Hands-on experience with JUnit and unit testing practices.
- Experience using Git for source control.
- Familiarity with Jenkins for build and deployment automation.
- Experience with Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation.
- Working knowledge of JBoss application server administration and support.
- Experience working within an Agile Scrum delivery framework.
- Proficiency with JIRA for work management and tracking.
Desirable Skills
- Understanding of CI/CD best practices.
- Experience working in highly regulated or secure environments.
- Knowledge of application performance tuning and monitoring.
- Exposure to DevOps methodologies and cloud-based environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
