About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer for a 12-month contract to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working from multiple UK office locations and remote working arrangements. As a Senior Java Developer at Network IT, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and supporting software products that underpin a range of digital, user-focused services. You will work closely with architecture, engineering, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions, ensuring that best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle. Your expertise will help shape the technical direction of our projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering standards.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Java software development, particularly in complex, medium- to high-impact environments.
- Proficiency with Spring Boot and modern backend engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience working within cloud-based environments, preferably AWS.
- Strong understanding of event-driven or distributed systems, ideally using Kafka.
- Experience working with MongoDB and managing NoSQL databases.
- Proven ability to design, code, test, and document complex programs, services, or scripts using industry standards and tools.
- Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to guide others in applying modern software engineering standards, methods, and tooling.
- Experience designing systems with medium levels of technical or business complexity, including reviewing designs and technology selection.
- Understanding of service resilience, operational stability, robustness, availability, and production support.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with product, architecture, user research, and delivery teams to ensure solutions align with user needs.

Responsibilities
- Design and lead strategies for building reusable Java libraries, services, and software components to promote code efficiency and maintainability.
- Shape medium to long-term technical strategies for product lines and the wider software engineering community, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to design robust, resilient, and scalable systems that meet current and future needs.
- Champion software engineering best practices, including writing clean code, comprehensive testing, documentation, and adherence to modern standards.
- Identify, investigate, and support the resolution of infrastructure and production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering community to foster innovation and skill development.
- Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and ensure high-quality deliverables across projects.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovative solutions.
- Support the development of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based solutions leveraging AWS and other relevant technologies.

Network IT offers competitive daily rates within the range of £700-£750 per day, inside IR35, for this contract role.
