The Opportunity

We're looking for a talented Java Developer to join a delivery-focused engineering team building modern, scalable applications within a fast-paced Agile environment.

This role is ideal for a developer who is passionate about software engineering best practices, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, maintainable code. You'll work across the full development lifecycle, contributing to the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
  • Build scalable, resilient solutions using the Spring Framework or similar technologies.
  • Contribute to system design and architecture discussions.
  • Develop high-quality code using Test-Driven Development (TDD) and modern engineering practices.
  • Support containerised deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery practices.
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, architects, and product teams within Agile delivery teams.
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and quality standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience with Java development.
  • Experience with Spring Framework (or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns and their practical application.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines.
  • Passion for code quality, automated testing, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Kafka.
  • Experience with IBM MQ / MQ Series.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies.
