About The Role
We are currently seeking experienced Java Developers to join a dynamic project team on behalf of our client. The successful candidates will be involved in a variety of projects that require building and maintaining scalable, cloud-based services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions within a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products.
The position is initially a 6-month contract, inside IR35, with a daily rate of £500. There is potential flexibility on rates depending on experience and skillset. The role requires obtaining SC clearance, which the organization is willing to facilitate for suitable candidates. The role involves working onsite in Newcastle three days per week, offering a balanced mix of remote and on-site work to foster effective collaboration and project delivery.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development with specific expertise in Java programming. Relevant experience with cloud services development is essential, along with a solid understanding of unit testing methodologies. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in continuous learning and professional growth.
Required Qualifications Include
- Proficiency in Java development
- Experience with cloud services and cloud-native application design
- Strong understanding of unit testing frameworks and practices
- Ability to work effectively within Agile development environments
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with DevSecOps practices, container orchestration platforms, and front-end technologies, which will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable cloud-based applications using Java. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, writing clean, efficient code, and conducting thorough unit testing to ensure software quality.
Additional duties encompass:
- Participating in code reviews
- Contributing to continuous integration and deployment pipelines
- Ensuring adherence to security standards
- Supporting deployment activities
- Troubleshooting issues
- Optimizing application performance in cloud environments
