Java Developer

Location: London | Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)

Contract: 6 Months | 17/08/2026 - 31/12/2026

Day Rate: £627.07 p/day (Umbrella Equivalent)

Our client is seeking an experienced Java Developer to support the successful delivery of client-focused technology solutions in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java-based enterprise applications and services.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into clean, efficient, reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable code.
  • Develop backend services, RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrations with internal and external systems.
  • Work with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Business Analysts, Testers, Product Owners, QA teams, DevOps engineers, and project teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Support software design, code reviews, unit testing, debugging, defect resolution, and code quality.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Support CI/CD delivery processes using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, or similar tools.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation where required.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support application performance, stability, reliability, and continuous improvement.

  • Proven experience as a Java Developer, Backend Developer, or Full Stack Developer, with strong hands-on backend development experience.
  • Strong experience with Java and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, RESTful APIs, microservices, and API development.
  • Good understanding of SQL and relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience using Maven or Gradle and version control tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software development and delivery practices, including Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
  • Experience using IntelliJ, Eclipse, or VS Code, along with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience working effectively in Agile delivery environments and with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, analytical, software design, and technical documentation skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working on cloud-based applications using AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable.
  • Exposure to containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is desirable.
  • Experience with monitoring or logging tools such as Kibana, Splunk, or CloudWatch is desirable.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise application development and consulting or client-facing delivery is desirable.
  • Knowledge of secure coding standards and application performance optimisation is desirable.
  • Ability to resolve technical issues and deliver high-quality solutions using modern software engineering practices.
