About The Role
Milton Park is seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join its Neftex Technical Services Team in Abingdon, UK. This role is ideal for a professional with over three years of experience in software development, particularly in Java-based applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining subsurface evaluation solutions that support the company's core operations. This hybrid position requires a commitment to working in the office at least three days a week, facilitating collaboration and team engagement.
The Java Developer will play a key role in implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions, participating in Agile ceremonies, and adhering to best practices in security and code quality. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in Java development. A strong understanding of API development, RESTful services, and microservices architecture is essential. Proficiency with Java frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, and related technologies is required. Experience working within Agile methodologies and familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, is highly desirable.
Candidates should have a solid background in software security best practices, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a team-oriented mindset are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain subsurface evaluation solutions using Java technologies, ensuring they meet functional and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with product owners, analysts, and other developers to define project scope and deliverables, participating actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Implement security best practices throughout the development lifecycle to safeguard applications against vulnerabilities.
- Optimize application performance by conducting code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and applying best practices for scalability and efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of development processes, code, and system configurations.
- Support continuous integration and deployment efforts by working with DevOps teams to improve build and release pipelines.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to ensure the team leverages innovative solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
