Job Title: Java Developer (contract)

Location: London Hybrid 2-3 days a week in the London office

Duration: 4 months

Contract Start Date: ASAP *please note that onboarding will take 4-6 weeks from the offer

The Role

We are looking for a Java Integration Engineer to analyse, enhance and integrate complex enterprise applications within a global financial services environment. The role will use Java, Oracle and the Spring Framework to support highly customised legacy platforms and process large-scale external data feeds. You will help protect data integrity across downstream ledger, risk and margin systems by documenting data lineage and metadata. Working across Agile and Waterfall delivery, you will translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and collaborate effectively within a highly matrixed organisation.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven hands-on expertise in Java (Core and Enterprise)
  • Strong Oracle Database experience, including SQL and PL/SQL optimisation.
  • Expertise across the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Batch and Spring Integration).
  • Ability to reverse-engineer, analyse and integrate complex, highly customised legacy enterprise applications.
  • Strong data management capability, including ingestion and transformation of large-scale external feeds (e.g. daily CCP clearing files or market data)
  • Experience documenting data lineage and metadata, while maintaining strict data integrity across downstream ledger, risk and margin systems.
  • Extensive experience operating within structured SDLC environments using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in enterprise collaboration and delivery tools.
  • Experience working collaboratively within complex, global financial services environment.
  • Strong communication, listening and influencing skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical implementation.

Deliverables

  • Design and build Spring Batch and Spring Integration pipelines to ingest, transform, and validate large-scale daily CCP clearing and market data feeds
  • Produce comprehensive architectural specifications and interface inventories by reverse-engineering legacy code, PL/SQL packages, and database dependencies
  • Establish robust data mappings, lineage tracking, and schema definitions that maintain strict ledger, risk, and margin data integrity
  • Develop scalable, highly concurrent Java and Spring Boot microservices backed by optimized, low-latency Oracle SQL and PL/SQL procedures
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary global stakeholders to deliver clear, business-to-technical functional designs and end-to-end Agile/Waterfall deployment artifacts
