Java Developer / Software Engineer Newcastle onsite to £120k

Do you have expertise with backend software development within finance / trading environments?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on Java Developer role at a growing professional services company.

As a Java Developer, you'll play a key role in a new client engagement to transform a highly complex C++ legacy trading system into a modern Java based application. You'll collaborate with Front Office trading teams as well as other highly skilled software engineers and product teams to deliver robust, secure, real-time trading systems using Java and Claude.

Location:

  • You'll join the team in Central Newcastle offices on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday).

About you:

  • You have strong backend, multithreaded Java development experience
  • You have a strong knowledge of financial markets and have previous experience of working on trading systems
  • You have a good understanding of real-time system development and latency
  • You're comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
  • You're collaborative and pragmatic with client-facing communication skills
  • You're naturally curious and have advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of C++ would be of benefit but it's not essential
  • You have achieved a minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar technical discipline from a top tier / Russel Group university, backed by A's at A-level
