About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer specializing in SIP/VoIP technologies to join our client’s dynamic team on a 6-month contract basis. This role is based in Ipswich with a hybrid working model, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge voice and communication platforms within the telecommunications industry. The ideal candidate will be involved in developing, enhancing, and supporting large-scale telecom services, leveraging cloud technologies and AI-powered voice solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative voice communication solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Java development with practical experience in telecoms or voice environments.
- Proven track record in developing SIP-based applications.
- Familiarity with SIP, VoIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP protocols.
- Experience working with frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlet.
- Hands-on experience with VoIP platforms like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk.
- Cloud deployment expertise across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to support complex voice systems.
- Additional knowledge of telecoms security protocols, containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and WebRTC will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance SIP-based voice applications using Java, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement voice communication solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Support and integrate voice platforms including FreeSWITCH and Asterisk, ensuring seamless operation and performance.
- Deploy and support voice solutions across cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, maintaining optimal service availability.
- Integrate advanced speech services, including Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, and AI-driven voice functionalities, to enhance user experience.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to voice quality, call routing, and network performance, ensuring minimal downtime and high-quality service delivery.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Stay updated with emerging telecoms and voice technology trends to continuously improve service offerings.
