About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Java Developer to join our dynamic team in Leeds on a permanent basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile government digital modernization projects, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and cloud services. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing secure and scalable Java applications, primarily using Core Java and Spring Boot frameworks. The role requires a blend of front-end and back-end development skills, with a strong emphasis on cloud integration and deployment within AWS environments. The position offers a hybrid working model, with two days remote work and three days on-site at our Leeds office, providing flexibility and a collaborative work atmosphere.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in Java development, with proven experience in Spring Boot and AWS cloud services. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Certifications such as AWS Associate Developer are advantageous. Candidates should have experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB, and familiarity with front-end frameworks like AngularJS. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerization tools such as Docker will be highly regarded. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to project delivery are essential.
Responsibilities
The Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java applications that meet client requirements and adhere to security standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements
- Creating technical specifications
- Implementing solutions using Core Java, Spring Boot, and AWS cloud services such as AWS S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway
- Configuring and managing cloud infrastructure using CloudFormation
- Deploying applications through CI/CD pipelines
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
- Optimizing application performance
- Ensuring the security and scalability of solutions
- Participating in code reviews
- Maintaining documentation
- Staying updated with emerging technologies

Benefits
Our client offers a competitive salary package ranging from £80,000 to £90,000, commensurate with experience. The role includes a hybrid working arrangement, providing flexibility with two days remote work per week. Employees are also entitled to:
