Java Developer – 12-Month Contract
Location: Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, UK
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Duration: 12 Months
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a multi-functional Agile delivery team, developing and maintaining software products that deliver essential citizen services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test and maintain production-ready Java applications and services.
- Translate business requirements into robust, scalable and reusable solutions.
- Design reusable libraries, services and integrations.
- Build comprehensive automated unit and integration tests.
- Ensure application robustness, resilience, security and operational stability.
- Work closely with Technical Architects, Principal Engineers and wider delivery teams.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including providing 3rd-line support where required.
- Contribute to technical documentation, coding standards and software engineering best practices.
- Support continuous improvement and mentor other Software Engineers.

Ideal Candidate
- Strong commercial experience in Java software development.
- Experience working within Agile/SDLC environments.
- Strong understanding of software design, development, testing and version control.
- Experience developing APIs, integrations and reusable services.
- Good understanding of automated testing, system resilience and production support.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
