About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer to join our team in Birmingham. This role offers a hybrid/remote working arrangement, providing flexibility to balance work and personal commitments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering large-scale payment transformation programs within the banking sector, leveraging their expertise in ICON IPF Payments systems. You will work on modern, cloud-based payment architectures, designing, developing, and maintaining robust payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. This position offers a competitive salary of up to £70,000, complemented by performance-based bonuses, and provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to transformative projects in the financial services industry.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Java development, with significant experience working on ICON IPF Payments systems or similar payment platforms. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding advanced certifications or postgraduate qualifications. Proven experience in cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is essential. Strong understanding of payment processing, security protocols, and compliance standards within banking is necessary. Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and effective communication skills are also vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Java Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing scalable payment solutions using Java and modern cloud technologies.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and implement robust, secure payment systems.
- Maintaining and enhancing existing ICON IPF Payments applications, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system performance and security.
- Participating in code reviews, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure our payment solutions remain innovative and compliant with regulatory standards.
