Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Java Engineer to join the CORE Mod. team within Tax Administration. The role will work as part of Scrum teams comprising Java Engineers, Front End Developers, and QEs to modernise HMRC legacy services.
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications as part of the CORE Mod. team.
- Build solutions using Spring Boot and support modernisation of HMRC legacy services.
- Collaborate with Java Engineers, Front End Developers, and QEs within Scrum teams.
- Write and maintain unit tests using JUnit and support high-quality software delivery.
- Apply software engineering best practices across development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Contribute to application development using JPA, Maven, Mockito, AWS, GitLab, Helm, OpenAPI, SQL, and Shell Scripting where applicable.
- Use Kibana and related tooling to support application monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational activities.

Qualifications
- Bring proven professional experience as a Java Engineer or similar software engineering role.
- Possess strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and JUnit.
- Demonstrate experience working within Scrum or Agile development teams.
- Bring experience collaborating with Front End Developers and Quality Engineers.
- Possess experience with one or more of JPA, Kibana, Maven, Mockito, AWS, GitLab, Helm, OpenAPI, SQL, or Shell Scripting; preferred.
- Apply strong understanding of modern software development, testing, and engineering practices.
- Hold or obtain BPSS clearance eligibility.
