About The Role

Complex Systems at Jared is actively seeking three Senior Java Software Engineers to join their dynamic, cross-functional teams. This role is pivotal in delivering large-scale, business-critical systems that require high reliability, performance, and scalability. The ideal candidates will be experienced in Java development and possess a strong understanding of modern software engineering practices. As a remote-first position, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere, with occasional visits to the South Manchester office approximately once a month. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software solutions, mentoring junior team members, and influencing the technical direction of projects. You will work within an Agile environment, employing Extreme Programming (XP) practices to ensure rapid delivery and continuous improvement of systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Java development.
  • Strong knowledge of Java SE and Java EE technologies.
  • Experience with modern development tools and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Maven.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud-based deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior developers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable Java applications in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Implement best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and Agile ceremonies to enhance team productivity and code quality.
  • Influence technical decisions and contribute to the evolution of engineering standards and practices.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate best practices into projects.
