About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Technical Lead to join our esteemed client, a leading specialist technical consultancy, on a pivotal project within the Central Government sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to remain hands-on with software development while providing technical leadership to a collaborative Agile team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying bespoke software solutions that address complex operational challenges faced by government agencies. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable applications.
Qualifications
- Strong commercial experience in software engineering and modern application development.
- Proven expertise in building scalable applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, including designing and deploying cloud-based solutions.
- Solid understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Proficiency in full-stack development using Java, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
- Experience leading engineering teams or providing technical guidance and direction.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, technical design, and best practices in security and engineering standards.
- Experience managing the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment, support, and maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and translate technical concepts into understandable language.
- Eligibility for high-level UK security clearance, including British citizenship and a minimum of five years of residence in the UK.

Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of software engineers to ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Design, develop, and test bespoke applications tailored to operational needs.
- Provide clear technical direction and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Create and maintain solution architectures, technical designs, and documentation.
- Develop full-stack applications leveraging Java, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript, ensuring responsiveness and scalability.
- Design and implement cloud-based solutions primarily utilizing AWS services, ensuring security and efficiency.
- Build and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines using tools such as GitLab.
- Work through all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial requirements and architecture to deployment, support, and ongoing maintenance.
- Deploy applications into public and private cloud environments, ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Promote best practices in software quality, security, and engineering discipline across the team.
