Java Fullstack Engineer – Retail Banking (Contract)

Location: London (team based) | Remote from Manchester / Edinburgh considered

Contract: 6 Months

Rate: Via Umbrella

Overview

We are looking for multiple experienced Java Software Engineers (up to 9 roles) to join a high-performing engineering team within a leading retail banking organisation. You will be working on modern, cloud-native platforms delivering scalable digital banking solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to customer-facing applications, with a strong focus on microservices architecture, continuous delivery, and full-stack development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot
  • Build scalable and resilient solutions aligned with modern engineering best practices
  • Develop engaging user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and drive Continuous Deployment practices
  • Deliver production-ready, cloud-native solutions on AWS
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and QA
  • Ensure code quality through testing, automation, and code reviews

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java (core) and Spring Boot
  • Proven track record building and maintaining microservices architectures
  • Solid front-end development experience using React and modern JavaScript
  • Experience working in CI/CD environments with Continuous Deployment
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based development (AWS preferred)
  • Experience delivering production-grade applications in agile environments
