Well, what about the team?

Join our dynamic Sports API team (named Matchday), where you'll be at the forefront of creating our Online Sportsbook APIs that underpin the Bally Bet experience. You’ll play a pivotal role in building these APIs, collaborating with our Sports UI, Platform and Data teams as well as our third-party data providers. We ship our software using continuous delivery principles and aim to continuously improve how we collaborate, and deliver on our goals.

You'll have the opportunity to develop robust APIs capable of handling thousands of requests per second, ensuring reliability and performance to support our sports operations. You’ll be part of the exciting launch phase as we transition our existing Bally Bet product to use our new APIs and UIs. Our platform is based on AWS, and you’ll be using technologies including Java 17/21, Spring Boot 3.x, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, GraphQL and Kafka. So, what will you be doing?

  • Develop product features, updates and capabilities.
  • Use TDD methodologies to produce high quality well documented code.
  • Design and develop customer focussed solutions.
  • Understand the goals and business objectives of your team and domain.
  • Use agile methodologies and work together to meet our team goals.
  • Work closely with your team-members pairing on problems and ensuring you share knowledge.
  • Contribute to the peer review of code changes seeking understanding and suggesting improvements.
  • Take responsibility for efficiently and successfully delivering your code changes to production.
  • Communicate progress to the team and raise issues and risks as soon as possible.
  • Continuously improve the tools and processes used by the team.

And what are we looking for?

  • Keen to learn new technologies, tools and practices and keep up with ongoing company and industry developments.
  • Good collaborator, happy to jump in to help plan work, solve problems and deliver features.
  • Knowledge of subjects including: Java, SpringBoot, relational databases and API design and development.
  • Experience working using agile methodologies.
  • Experienced with engineering best practices including TDD, pairing, automation, continuous delivery.
  • Ideally also knowledge or experience of tools such including: GraphQL, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, Dynatrace, AWS.
