About the Job
The Opportunity
As a Java Software Engineer at JivPad, you will engineer the robust, high-performance backend systems that power a platform redefining how people communicate. JivPad is a modern communication system powered by AI, enabling individuals with speech or hearing differences, and anyone who desires intelligent call assistance, to connect with confidence and authenticity. Our platform also delivers real-time translation for in-person conversations, removing language barriers entirely.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain Java-based services that form the backbone of our communication infrastructure. You will work closely with backend engineers, AI teams, and product teams to deliver scalable, resilient systems that handle real-time voice processing, call orchestration, and platform integrations with precision.
This is an opportunity to apply your Java expertise to technology that genuinely matters, where the systems you build enable people to be heard, understood, and in control of their own voice.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Java services and microservices that power JivPad's core communication platform.
- Develop high-throughput, low-latency backend systems that support real-time voice processing, call management, and translation features.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate machine learning models and intelligent services into the platform's Java-based infrastructure.
- Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code with a focus on reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews, and technical discussions that shape the direction of the platform.
- Optimise system performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure high-availability experiences at scale.
- Contribute to DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and cloud infrastructure management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About JivPad
JivPad is a modern communication platform built on the belief that everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and in control of their own voice. Our AI-powered calling technology enables users to make phone calls with full autonomy, whether they choose to speak through AI using their own cloned voice, direct the conversation in real time via text, or seamlessly take over the call themselves. Our live translation feature allows people speaking different languages to converse naturally, in person, without delays or interruptions.
We are not building another AI calling tool. We are building the future of human connection, where technology amplifies who you are rather than replacing you.
