About The Role

As a Lead Software Engineer within JPMorgan Chase's CIB – Markets Technology division, you will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing cutting-edge financial technology solutions. You will be an integral part of an agile team dedicated to delivering secure, scalable, and reliable products that support the firm’s business objectives. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing innovative software solutions, leading technical initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will leverage your expertise in programming, system architecture, and AI-assisted development tools to drive efficiency and quality across the software development lifecycle. Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and practices
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Java
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
  • Experience leading the adoption of AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., code review, testing, troubleshooting)
  • Knowledge of responsible AI practices, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs
  • In-depth understanding of financial services industry IT systems
  • Practical experience with cloud-native development at scale

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot innovative software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches to solve complex technical problems
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review code written by team members to ensure best practices
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
  • Establish and promote validation standards such as secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing across the team
  • Utilize SDLC tools and automation capabilities to improve development efficiency and software quality
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring issues, enhancing operational stability and resiliency of applications
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials for integration
  • Contribute to and promote communities of practice within software engineering, sharing knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices
  • Foster a team culture that values diversity, inclusion, opportunity, and mutual respect
