Java Developer — Contract

Location: Burges Hill, UK
Working: Hybrid — 3 days onsite per week
Rate: £300/day
Duration: Contract

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to design, develop and support scalable enterprise applications. The role involves working with modern Java technologies, cloud services, databases and automated testing within an Agile engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality Java applications and services
  • Build and enhance scalable backend solutions
  • Design and optimise PostgreSQL database solutions
  • Work with cloud-based infrastructure and services
  • Create and maintain automated test suites
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to modern cloud-native architectures

Essential Skills

  • Strong hands-on Java development experience
  • Spring / Spring Boot or related Java frameworks
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including performance tuning
  • Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Automated testing — unit, integration and/or E2E
  • CI/CD pipelines and source control
  • Agile development experience
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
