The Firm & Role
Our client is a leading hedge fund where technology, data, and innovation sit at the heart of the business. Engineers work directly alongside investment and business teams to build the platforms, systems, and tools that power day-to-day decision-making across the firm.
They are seeking a Software Engineer to join a Front Office Technology team responsible for developing business-critical applications used across trading, operations, finance, and data functions.
This is a highly visible role offering end-to-end ownership of projects, direct interaction with stakeholders, and the opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems, data platforms, and modern AI tooling.

- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend applications and distributed systems.
- Develop internal platforms, APIs, and data-driven services used across the business.
- Work directly with front-office and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
- Contribute to architecture, system design, and long-term technology strategy.
- Improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of existing systems.
- Contribute to AI-enabled applications and workflows where appropriate.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience building production software.
- Strong development experience in Java, C#, Scala, Kotlin, or a similar language
- Experience building backend systems, distributed applications, or data-intensive platforms.
- Strong understanding of databases, SQL, and system integration.
- Ability to take ownership of projects from requirements through to production
- Strong communication skills and experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have
- Experience with messaging, streaming, or event-driven architectures.
- Exposure to cloud technologies, containers, or modern infrastructure tooling.
- Experience working in financial services or other fast-paced, data-rich environments.
- Interest in AI, developer productivity tooling, or platform engineering.
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience.
