Java Developer – SC Cleared
Active SC Clearance – Essential
£546 per day inside IR3
Remote working within the U.K only
We are seeking an experienced security cleared Java Developer to join a public sector technology team, working on the design, development and delivery of Java-based applications and services.
Please note: Active SC clearance is an essential requirement for this position. Candidates without current SC clearance cannot be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and deploy Java-based applications and services.
- Write clean, efficient and well-documented code in line with development best practices.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Architects and other Developers to understand and deliver technical requirements.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and maintainability.
- Optimise application performance, reliability and scalability.
- Integrate APIs, third-party services and databases.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tooling and engineering practices.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Active SC clearance – essential.
- Strong proficiency in Java, including Core Java and Java SE/EE.
- Strong experience with the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Data.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with microservices architectures.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Experience using Git and modern version control practices.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Security Clearance
Active SC clearance is mandatory for this role. Due to the nature of the public sector environment, candidates must already hold the required level of security clearance to be considered.
