Java/Spring Boot Developer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Java/Spring Boot Developer based in United Kingdom.
We are seeking a skilled backend developer to design, build, and maintain scalable applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
This role focuses on developing reliable APIs, implementing backend solutions, and supporting modern software architectures.
You will contribute to building high-quality applications while collaborating with technical teams in an agile environment.
The position requires strong programming expertise, database knowledge, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.

Accountabilities
The Java/Spring Boot Developer will be responsible for developing backend applications, designing efficient services, and ensuring the reliability and performance of software solutions. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, following best development practices, and contributing to the full software development lifecycle.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs to support application functionality and integrations.
- Build and optimize microservices-based solutions following modern architecture principles.
- Work with relational databases to design, query, and manage application data effectively.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code aligned with engineering standards.
- Perform unit testing and contribute to improving application quality and reliability.
- Use version control and build tools to manage development workflows efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver software solutions.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute ideas to improve development processes.

Requirements
The ideal candidate is a backend-focused software engineer with strong experience in Java development and modern backend frameworks. Strong analytical skills, technical problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are essential for success in this role.
- Strong proficiency in Java, including experience with Java versions 8, 11, or 17.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and microservices development.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Experience using Git for version control.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Experience writing unit tests using JUnit.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within technical teams.
