Java Support Engineer (L3 Support) – 6 Months – London (Hybrid)
RED has a new contract opportunity for a Java Support Engineer (L3 Support) to join one of our key partners for a new large-scale digital services support and transformation programme.
The initial contract will be for 6 months with scope for extension based on project requirements.
This contract is to start ASAP and will be hybrid, with 1x per week on site in Croydon.
Active SC Clearance is mandatory
This role is inside IR35
Specific skills/experience required:
- Strong experience as a Java Support Engineer / Application Support Engineer providing L3 support within complex enterprise environments.
- Proven experience working at SFIA Level 4 or equivalent.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills across applications and infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with Java, JavaScript, APIs, and microservices debugging.
- Experience working with logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability tools.
- Good understanding of AWS cloud platforms.
- Experience supporting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Strong background in incident management, including ownership and resolution of P1-P3 incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis, problem management, and implementing permanent fixes.
- Knowledge of change management, release support, and CAB processes.
- Experience managing and supporting non-production environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English.
- Current SC Clearance is mandatory.
- Available to join within 1-2 weeks of offer.
