Java Support Engineer - 6-12 Month Contract Role - Remote/1 day on site - (London, UK)
On behalf of one of our key partners, RED now has an opportunity for a Java Support Engineer to join them on an IT project. This is a 6-12 month contract role, with excellent extension opportunities.
This contract is to start 1-2 weeks and will be Remote/Hybrid, 1 day on site in London, UK.
Role responsibility:
We are seeking experienced Java Support Engineers (L3 Support) to provide advanced technical support for critical Home Office applications and services. The role focuses on incident resolution, problem management, environment support, service reliability, and continuous improvement of Java-based systems hosted in cloud environments. The successful candidate will work closely with development, operations, and infrastructure teams to ensure high service availability, rapid issue resolution, and ongoing operational excellence.

Specific skills/experience:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across applications and infrastructure
- Experience supporting Java applications, JavaScript-based services, APIs, and microservices
- Expertise using monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Good understanding of AWS cloud services
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and release management
- Scripting experience using Python, Shell, or PowerShell
- Experience working in an L3 production support environment
- Active SC Clearance
- Stakeholder engagement
- Available to start within 1-2 weeks
