Outside IR35 – 2x Senior Full Stack JavaScript Engineer

Day Rate

£600 (Outside IR35)

Duration

Greenfield programme, 3–6 months initial plus extensions

Location

Bristol / London – up to one day a week in the office, with remote flexibility depending on the team

A leading UK wealth management and investment platform is hiring two Senior Full Stack Engineers to join a team working on client-facing products that help retail investors manage and grow their wealth ahead of retirement. They're looking for engineers who take ownership, show initiative and can work autonomously once given direction.

The Role

  • Deliver features, bug fixes and operational support across three repositories covering React frontends, AWS Lambda BFF layers and infrastructure as code
  • Own issues end-to-end, from investigation through to production deployment
  • Flag technical debt, bugs and improvement opportunities, and help improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews and team engineering standards
  • Work with the wider team, platform teams and product owners to deliver against requirements

Required Skills & Experience

Backend / BFF

  • Node.js with TypeScript
  • AWS Lambda handler development with middleware patterns (e.g. Middy)
  • API Gateway (routing, authorizers, request/response handling)
  • RESTful API design
  • OAuth/token-based authentication
  • DynamoDB
  • Secrets Manager
  • SSM Parameter Store

AWS & Infrastructure

  • AWS CDK or SST for infrastructure as code (including reading and modifying existing stacks)
  • IAM
  • SNS
  • Basic VPC networking (Lambda in VPC, security groups)

  • Unit and integration testing with Vitest or similar
  • API mocking with MSW or equivalent
