About The Role
The JavaScript Developer - React / TypeScript role at Ncounter offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of digital transformation within the public sector. As part of the development team, you will be instrumental in designing and building modern web applications that are secure, accessible, and user-centric. You will collaborate closely with consultants, architects, and engineers from the early stages of discovery and prototyping through to deployment of production-ready applications. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and consultative skills, as you will be working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and develop practical, innovative solutions. The work environment is dynamic and varied, often supporting organizations where security, accessibility, and efficient data utilization are critical components of success.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial experience in front-end development with React and TypeScript, demonstrating a solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals. Experience in building secure, scalable applications and integrating frontend services with REST APIs and authentication systems is essential. Candidates should have a good grasp of responsive and accessible design principles, ensuring applications are usable across devices and compliant with accessibility standards. Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library is highly desirable, along with experience working within Git-based development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering practices. Exposure to technologies like Entra ID, MSAL, Keycloak, Redux, React Router, Tailwind CSS, Docker, GitHub Actions, or data visualization tools will be advantageous. Candidates must also be eligible for UK Security Clearance, as this role involves working within sensitive and secure environments.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern, intuitive web applications using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript, ensuring they meet security, accessibility, and usability standards.
- Create data-rich dashboards and user interfaces tailored for complex operational environments, enhancing data visualization and user engagement.
- Engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and shape practical, innovative solutions.
- Integrate applications seamlessly with RESTful APIs, authentication services, and enterprise platforms to deliver cohesive, secure solutions.
- Produce prototypes and proof-of-concept models to test ideas, demonstrate functionality, and support consultancy engagements.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and the implementation of CI/CD pipelines to uphold high engineering standards across project teams.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices, documentation, and standards within the team.
