3 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently operate a front-loading JCB within a waste depot, supporting the day-to-day management of the site by maintaining waste storage areas, moving materials, and ensuring the yard remains clean, organised, and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a front-loading JCB safely and efficiently across the waste depot.
  • Carry out litter picking and general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe yard.
  • Fill and move skips as required to support waste operations.
  • Push up waste bays to ensure materials are accessible and managed effectively.
  • Monitor skip capacity and arrange the ordering of additional skips when required.
  • Conduct routine yard inspections and report any safety concerns, defects, or operational issues.
  • Comply with all health and safety procedures and site regulations.
  • Support the wider depot team with operational tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating a front-loading JCB in a similar environment.
  • Valid JCB or relevant plant operator certification/licence.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices within a waste or industrial setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to carry out physically active duties where required.
