Jet2NextGen

Jet2NextGen is a future pilot talent programme designed to recognise future commercial pilots during their modular or integrated flight training journey. Building on the established industry approach of pilot ‘tagging’ schemes, the programme provides successful applicants with early engagement with Jet2, a structured airline readiness pathway, and the opportunity to be formally recognised as part of our future pilot talent pipeline.

Delivered in partnership with Approved Training Organisations (ATOs), Jet2NextGen enables aspiring pilots to build an early connection with Jet2, experience our operation through Discovery360, and secure a conditional offer of employment including a fully funded Airbus or Boeing Type Rating, aligned to an anticipated joining timeline and providing a defined pathway to the Jet2 flight deck.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for Jet2NextGen, candidates must:

  • Have the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK.
  • Native English Speaker, or equivalent proficiency (minimum IELTS Academic 5.5, or level 5 as per aviation standards).
  • Holds a valid UK CAA Class 1 Medical.
  • For Modular Trainees: Holds a valid UK CAA PPL.
  • Have demonstrated strong performance in the UK CAA ATPL examinations, with first-sitting results considered as part of the overall assessment.
  • Receive a referral from their flight training ATO, including an estimated training completion window.
  • Be able to achieve UK CAA fATPL licence issue within the agreed timescale.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to supporting and developing others.
  • Applicants may transfer from another programme, but cannot hold multiple programme tags. This must be their only tag at the point of offer.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for aspiring pilots who are passionate about a career in commercial aviation and prepared to invest in their own success. We value individuals who appreciate the opportunities they have been given, support those around them, and take pride in delivering great experiences for customers. Above all, we're looking for future pilots who want to play an active role in the continued success of Jet2.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Timeframes to complete training

Applicants will be asked to provide an expected month of UK CAA fATPL licence issue as part of the application process. This date will be used to support programme planning and should reflect a realistic training completion timeline. Progress will be reviewed approximately three months before the anticipated completion date, and where timescales are no longer aligned, applicants may be invited to reapply at a later stage of their training.

How To Apply For Jet2NextGen

To apply for Jet2NextGen, applicants should initially speak to their ATO (Approved Training Organisation) and agree a timeline of training including an expected training completion month. Once complete, the ATO should then complete the ATO referral form and provide the applicant with a copy. The applicant should then submit an online application via the Jet2Careers website. If the ATO does not hold a copy of the ATO referral form, they should contact Future.PilotTeam@jet2.com.

Partner ATOs are encouraged to approach trainees who they feel meet the programme criteria, Jet2 values, and demonstrate the potential to succeed within a commercial airline environment.

Once submitted, candidates can expect the following application process.

  • Online Application Form – Tell us about yourself and your flight training journey.
  • Written Application Question – An opportunity to demonstrate relevant skills, experiences and potential.
  • Arctic Shores Assessment – An interactive assessment designed to identify behavioural strengths, potential and learning agility.
  • Aon Assessment – Pilot-specific aptitude and psychometric assessments measuring cognitive ability, personality and key behaviours.
  • HireVue Interview – A recorded video interview exploring your motivation to become a pilot, your understanding of Jet2, and your career aspirations.
  • Assessment Centre – Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in a range of exercises designed to assess the skills, behaviours and potential required for a future pilot career with Jet2.
  • Then, on completion of training; A final stage simulator assessment and interview.
