Job Description
About the Role:
Due to company growth, we are looking to appoint a Drainage Assistant to join our Chester Depot. Working as part of a two-person team, you will be responsible for attending drainage-related issues such as blockages, pipe clearing, cleansing, and reactive call-outs.

Hours:
Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
Pay:
Up to £13 per hour
Weekly pay

Responsibilities
- Operate machinery
- Ensure all H&S requirements are followed
- Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns
- Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress
- Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework
- Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems
- Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness
- Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers
- Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues
- Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision

Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
- A strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills and a desire to learn new software
Lanes Group will provide all training required for the role, such as high-pressure water jetting, confined space, spill response, etc.
