Dawsons is looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Jewellery, Watch & Silver Valuer to join our highly skilled and successful team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong jewellery knowledge, excellent client-facing skills and a genuine interest in auctions, valuations and luxury objects. You will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day running of our Berkshire operation, meeting clients, securing consignments and providing accurate, professional valuation advice.
Reporting in to the Joint Heads of Jewellery, Watches & Silver, you will be part of a friendly, expert and ambitious team within a modern, technology-led auction business.

We provide professional, discreet, current-market valuation and sales advice across fine jewellery, watches, silver, fine and contemporary art, antiques, family heirlooms and private collections.
Operating from our Auction Logistics Centre in Berkshire, our London valuation locations and through a nationwide valuation service, we combine specialist expertise with a modern, client-focused and technology-led approach to auctions and valuations.

THE ROLE
As Jewellery Valuer, you will be based at our Maidenhead office and will help deliver an exceptional experience for clients looking to value or sell jewellery, watches and silver.
You will meet clients in person, speak with them by phone and online, provide valuation advice, negotiate consignments and ensure items are handled, recorded and processed with care and accuracy.

This role would suit someone who is confident with clients, commercially aware, highly organised and passionate about jewellery, watches and silver. You will be joining a growing business at an exciting point, with the opportunity to help continue the success and reputation of Dawsons.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You will:
- Assist with the day-to-day running of Dawsons’ Berkshire operation.
- Reporting in to the Joint Heads of Jewellery, Watches & Silver.
- Meet, advise and negotiate with clients in person, by telephone and online.
- Consign jewellery, watches and silver for sale through Dawsons auctions.
- Carry out accurate valuations for auction, probate and insurance purposes.
- Attend offsite valuation appointments and house visits when required.
- Handle valuable items with care, discretion and professionalism.
- Enter stock and valuation details accurately into Dawsons’ auction operating systems.
- Work closely with our friendly team of expert jewellery valuers and cataloguers.
- Occasionally travel to/work from our Hampstead office when required.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who combines specialist knowledge with excellent communication skills, sound judgement and a client-first approach.
You should have:
- Specialist knowledge of jewellery, watches and/or silver.
- FGA, DGA, GIA or equivalent professional qualifications, or 5+ years’ experience within the jewellery, luxury, valuation, auction or pawnbroking sector.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Outstanding communication skills and exemplary customer service.
- The confidence to negotiate with clients in a professional and commercial manner.
- The ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
- A flexible, positive and team-focused approach.
- Good IT competence and the ability to learn new systems.
- Auction experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential.
