Role: Jira & Confluence Administrator

Location: Stevenage, UK
Type: Permanent/ Full-Time

Job Responsibilities

Jira & Confluence Administration

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Confluence environments.
  • Configure and manage Jira projects, issue types, workflows, screens, field configurations, permission schemes, notification schemes, and security schemes.
  • Configure and support Scrum and Kanban boards, dashboards, filters, reports, and Advanced Roadmaps.
  • Create, manage, and maintain Confluence spaces, templates, knowledge bases, and content governance standards.
  • Manage user provisioning, groups, roles, access controls, and permissions.
  • Support Agile delivery teams by providing Jira best practices, process improvements, and platform guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform usability, governance, automation, and operational efficiency.

Support & Operations

  • Provide L2/L3 application and technical support for Jira, Confluence, and JSM platforms.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve platform, configuration, workflow, permission, performance, and integration-related issues.
  • Monitor application health, availability, and performance, and support backup, maintenance, and upgrade activities.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and enhancement requests in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Support platform upgrades, releases, patches, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, knowledge articles, and user guidance.
  • Support user onboarding and provide training and guidance to end users and internal teams.
  • Work with Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) and Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA) to support migration and transition activities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Jira Software Administration
    • Jira Service Management (JSM)
    • Confluence Administration
    • Atlassian Cloud and Data Center environments
    • Jira workflows, schemes, permissions, screens, custom fields, and issue configurations
    • JQL, filters, dashboards, and reporting
    • Jira Automation and workflow automation
    • User, group, role, and access management
    • Migration tools, including JCMA and CCMA
    • REST APIs and integration with third-party or enterprise applications
    • Troubleshooting complex application, configuration, permission, and workflow issues

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale or enterprise Atlassian environments.
  • Experience with Atlassian platform migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Marketplace applications and integrations.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using tools such as Groovy, ScriptRunner, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and supporting Agile delivery teams.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and source control tools.
  • Experience working within structured IT service management environments, including incident, problem, change, and release management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business users, and senior stakeholders.
