How You'll Make a Difference
As a Job Analyst, you will be the council's specialist lead for job evaluation and organisational design, playing a key role in shaping how we structure our workforce. Working closely with HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives, you will provide expert advice on job evaluation, career families and role profiles, helping to ensure a fair, consistent approach that aligns with our Pay Policy Statement and organisational design principles. You'll also support workforce change initiatives, helping teams adapt and thrive as the organisation evolves.
What You Will Be Doing
Delivering specialist job evaluation and organisational design support, you will help shape roles and organisational structures across the council, ensuring they are designed, evaluated and graded fairly and consistently.
- Using your specialist knowledge, you will provide advice, guidance and training to managers and HR colleagues on career families, role profiles and the council's validation process, promoting a consistent and fair approach which complies with our Pay Policy Statement.
- You will play a key role in organisational change and transformation programmes, advising on job design and departmental structures to help deliver effective services.
- It will be your responsibility to coordinate and share the chairing of fortnightly validation panels for new or changed roles across the council. You will ensure documentation is accurate, evaluations are evidence-based and grading decisions are fair and consistent, this includes supporting appeal panels and benchmarking roles against appropriate comparators.
- Working across the organisation, you will contribute to pay determination processes and support the sharing of pay and conditions information through external forums.

What We Need From You
It is essential that you have considerable, in-depth experience of Korn Ferry Hay Group job evaluation, job analysis and organisational design in an HR function within a large, complex, multi-site and unionised environment.
- You must have previous experience of working within HR and managing a job evaluation scheme, with a strong understanding of the organisational impact of job evaluation decisions.
- We are looking for someone with experience of chairing and guiding job evaluation meetings, seeking consensus from its members.
- You will have the ability to influence and persuade managers and staff on grading matters, role profiles, career families and structures within a restructure.
- Given the nature of this work, you will have excellent interviewing, presentation, training and communication skills to be able to mentor and develop colleagues in job evaluation and the chairing of validation panels.
- You will have strong organisational, planning and scheduling skills, combined with a high level of attention to detail.
What You Need To Know
- Your salary is pro-rata to hours worked.
- This is a limited term contract, due to end 31st July 2027.
- This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road, Yate and from home.
