Stores Assistant – Basingstoke
We need someone reliable to take on stores work at our Basingstoke branch. Experience is not essential: if you have the right attitude we will train you.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will carry out stores work, help with workshop assemblies and the trade counter as required, and keep systems and paperwork up to date. Full training will be given.
Stores Operations
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately and to delivery deadlines.
- Inspect goods inwards.
- Stocktake and follow up variances.
- Keep computer systems and documentation up to date for all the above.
Workshop Operations
- Help produce hydraulic, pneumatic and industrial assemblies to company standards, using mechanical and manual methods. Training will be given.
- Process workshop documentation in line with company procedures, including test and traceability records.
- Keep the workshop safe, tidy and ready for the next job or the next audit.
- Help monitor stock.

Trade Counter Operations
- Serve customers at the trade counter.
- Complete the documentation needed to fulfil the order.
- Process cash and card payments for non-account customers.
Working with the Team
- Work as part of a small busy team and help where needed when the branch is busy.
- Raise issues promptly with the Branch Manager, for example safety, stock, quality or customer complaints.
Essential
- No previous experience is required. Stores, warehouse, trade counter or workshop experience is useful but not essential.
- A calm, reliable approach when several jobs land at once.
- Willingness to learn everyday computer tasks: stock movements, orders and email.
- Clear communication with customers and colleagues.
- A practical approach and willingness to learn the products and workshop methods.
- A good attitude, reliability, and willingness to be trained.

Desirable
- Hydraulic or pneumatic hose assembly, crimping, pressure testing or similar (training available).
- Previous stores, warehouse or trade counter work.
- Awareness of COSHH and workshop safety (training available).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 accreditation.
- A proper handover from a colleague with 45 years’ service, plus full training.
- A specialist product range and well-known brands.
- Training on products and assembly methods.
- A Branch Manager and a national team behind you.
