Fire Door Inspection Solutions (FDIS)
Fire Door Inspection Solutions (FDIS) is looking for skilled Joiners and Carpenters to complete fire-door installation, repair and remedial work across a range of customer sites.
We provide inspection, maintenance, repair and replacement services that help our customers keep their buildings safe and compliant. Our work takes us into hospitals, schools, residential buildings, defence sites and other public-sector environments.
The work is varied. One day you could be repairing an existing doorset and bringing it back to the required standard. The next could involve replacing hinges and ironmongery, fitting seals or removing and installing a complete new doorset.
This is safety-critical work, so quality matters. We need people who take pride in their workmanship, turn up when expected and understand why getting the details right is so important.
What you’ll be doing
- Installing, repairing and maintaining fire doors and doorsets.
- Identifying defects and completing the appropriate remedial work.
- Replacing seals, hinges, ironmongery and other fire-door components.
- Removing and installing complete doorsets when required.
- Working in line with fire-safety regulations, technical specifications and third-party certification requirements.
- Recording completed work and materials accurately using a mobile device.
- Working closely with project managers, customers and other trades.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and site conduct.
- Supporting apprentices and less-established members of the team when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
